Recycling Program

Each year, Gateway of Hope’s staff participate in beach clean-up. We choose a beach within our service areas and solicit volunteers. This is a fun day filled with interaction, education, and food. Our beach clean-up program assists with improving our environment.

We are creating a movement that involves cleanup and environmental education. We encourage smokers to recycle their butts and educate them on the environmental impact, cigarette butt litter has on our roads, beaches, and oceans.

Gateway Of Hope has adopted a Highway in Menifee California. It is our duty along with volunteers to keep a 2-mile span of the highway clean. Our program encourages motorists not to litter by educating them on the environmental consequences. Protect your documents. Gateway of Hope participates in a paper recycling and shredding program. In the Summer and winter, we hold community shredding events. At these events, we educate community members on the importance of shredding documents that has personal information attached, especially personal checks, bank statements, loan documents, etc.

Tree Planting and Community Gardens

Our community garden program encourages youth and adolescents to grow vegetables, flowers, and plant trees, we have gardens located in Sacramento and San Diego County, as well as Houston Texas. The staff members and volunteers have planted more than 50 trees for those aged 65 years and older communities.
If you would like to volunteer or donate to one of our programs, please email Shawanda McGuire sklmcguire@gatewayofhopefsc.org.
